track previews :: the darkness, silver jews

Do you like your music understated or overstated?

Understated: a track from the new Silver Jews disc, Tanglewood Numbers, due out next Tuesday. David Berman, with his inimitable lyrical gifts, likens working in an airport bar to "Christmas in a submarine".

Silver Jews :: I'm Getting Back Into Getting Back Into You (from Drag City Records)

Overstated: the new Darkness single, "One Way Ticket to Hell", is streaming at their MySpace site. It's like Def Leppard meets Queen, with electric sitar. Speaking of Queen, it's produced by Roy Thomas Baker, who was responsible for Freddie and co.'s greatest work.
